This year marks a new method of submission of viewing materials to the VES Awards, designed to make the entry process easier and more accessible for all members. Since most of the entries are prepared in electronic form at some point, we hope that by enabling electronic delivery, we will receive more entries from all categories. With the added benefit of lower preparation costs for entrants. It is also hoped that with the elimination of physical delivery, customs, and transportation costs that the awards will be more accessible to entrants from all around the world.
The VES Awards Committee investigated and considered many different types of delivery format, and has agreed upon DnxHD36 in a Quicktime wrapper. This gives excellent quality for viewing and evaluating submissions similar to the quality seen in the theatres or on the screen, while still allowing submissions to be made across DSL and similar bandwidths.
The Electronic submission process has been designed and implemented on the behalf of the VES by Sohonet, who are experts in the delivery of data of this form and have incorporated their experience into the submission process. The process is designed to ensure that the content you wish to be considered is delivered perfectly. A secure signature allows quick and accurate comparisons to be made of the material delivered and your original, with the addition of Secure FTP for delivery to provide greater security to the entire process.
The Submission process consists of the following steps, detailed below, however we recomend following the Submission guide.
